Pretty excited about this one

Future definitely looks bright for my Spurs

Needed someone like this to pair with Wemby and the youngster Castle

So glad they didn’t go the Jimmy Butler route as had been rumored for awhile

Spurs have a lot of cap space too so signing Fox long term shouldn’t be a problem

Could be a decent trade for the Kings too. They get Zach LaVine in a three-way deal and three first-round picks it looks like

Bulls look like absolute fools.

Will never understand why they gave Lavine the max.

Set the franchise back a decade.
Spurs had so many draft picks built up from deals done last few years it was easy for them to make this trade

Jay send Wemby to Orlando to team with Paulo Banchero and we’ll be hoisting the trophy in the near future
Wemby’s the most untradable player in the league

I do remember when Tim Duncan was up for free agency the first time abd everyone thought he was leaving for Orlando. Man how that would have reshaped the NBA back then

Orlando would have had Prime Duncan, Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady

Yep he was leaving to join leagues leading scorer Tracy Mcgrady it was already orally agreed to

Until….. David Robinson caught wind of it and flew back from wherever he was to talk Duncan out of it and he succeeded 🤦‍♂️

You may remember it was already reported a done deal and I was so excited lol

Prime Timmy, McGrady and Grant Hill would have been unstoppable

But I’m pretty sure Timmy’s happy with his decision in retrospect

Good story on how Spurs ended up keeping Timmy in 2000

Funny I don't remember much about that potential deal and I was a big fan of Duncan his whole career. Was very disappointed Celtics didn't get him in the draft.

Spurs are the luckiest team all time in the draft

Coupled with great GM Buford and you get a dynasty

Other teams have obviously made great moves because their owner or GM was smarter than everyone (Celtics the way Red got Bird, etc., Lakers trading for Kobe, etc., but as far as pure luck reshaping a franchise Spurs are number one landing Duncan and Wemby

I loved Red Auerbach. Lighting his cigar up after every win. Great coach, hired Russell as player coach, brilliant move getting Bird, then stole Robert Parish and drafted McHale.

I was a big lakers fan in the Magic era because they were so cool and I loved that fast break

But now when I watch the Lakers-Celtics ESPN documentary and the Walton 4-part documentary I love listening to tales about, and watching, that 1986 Celtics team. Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ and a healthy Walton was like poetry in motion the way the ball moved down the floor

Of course I've been a Celtics fan for all those years and Lakers were the enemy but loved watching them and appreciated how great they were too. Bird became my favorite all time player with Magic a close second.
