The part of the story being ignored - this guy was backing CAMPUS bookies at several universities.

Literally had agents in dorms across the country handling the bets and collections for them and kicking back.

What do you think the chances are that a few athletes weren’t among the customers - or at least members of the training staffs and those with close access to athletes and inside knowledge of happenings. Someone gets in a little too deep - way to easy to pressure them “or else”. These aren’t your run of the mill deadbeats who know they can stiff without repercussions - they are college kids who think the mob is still a thing. They can and will do stupid shot over a 5k debt.

We will find out they had their hands in everything - or at least everything that doesn’t implicate some ultra famous or ultra rich parents paying to get/keep their little brat in college. Drugs/paid off professors and administrators/gambling/admissions. Mark my words - this wasn’t just a small time bookie arrest.

Well - plenty of college kids have parents handing them $$ and get a nice chunk of change from financial aid/loans.

It’s not like they are all a bunch of broke dicks like here at BMR - they just don’t have steady incomes. At the same time they have zero expenses and any $$ they can get their hands on can be used to gamble - mix in they generally don’t have a clue of what they are doing and play a lot of those 6-8 team parlays trying to turn $20 into $1k - it’s a pure profit business.

As a bookie - would you rather have a guy who consistently wins half their bets - but can go a little streaky and 40% one week amd 65% the next 2 and bets 5k a game playing on credit - or a dozen little shits playing $100 parlays and bleeding them dry week in and week out. It’s the math the apps did a few years ago and why they don’t give a damn about big bettors - just the ones dumb enough to pay a 30 cent vig.

Even better - you get those little fish hooked and you have a young customer with a fancy new job and disposable income out of college playing for more and more $$. Still no clue on how to bet and still loyal to you because you were his guy in college.

They probably were pulling in under 50k a weekend - but again do the math - would you rather 3% of 500k or 100% of 50k ?

It sounded like some busted were athletes on the wrestling team. We know guys from different sports are all friends. They might have even bearded for some athletes in marquee sports. All sorts of possibilities and I’m sure more will be revealed soon.

The "Children are the future" no longer applies if this is going to continue.

Also, I know there's already a lot of mafia story shows, but this one could be another series on TV or Netflix haha
This could have been a Sopranos episode with Jackie Jr. at Rutgers taking action from students and fixing games. Instead of robbing concert money this would have been a much better plot!
