The Phoenix Suns are on a mission this season to win the NBA title after falling just short last season, blowing a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals. They were the best team in the regular season by a wide margin and they are ready to start their playoff run here in Game 1 against New Orleans.

The Pelicans are just happy to be here as they grinded their way through the play-in round. I expect an emotional letdown in Game 1 at least from this young team. The Suns went 3-1 SU & 3-1 ATS in the regular season against the Pelicans with all three wins coming by 12 points or more. Give me the Suns.

My selection is on Boston minus the points over Brooklyn at 3:30 pm et on Sunday.

While this series is likely to be a battle from start to finish, I like the Celtics to defend their home floor on Sunday. Most are expecting the Nets to 'flip the switch' in the playoffs after an uneven regular season. They have reeled off five consecutive victories heading into this series but didn't cover the spread in either of their last two games.

While their shooting certainly picked up down the stretch, they also allowed their last three opponents to knock down 40, 47 and 41 field goals. Their last two opponents managed to get off 104 and 92 field goal attempts. Should they play Sunday's game that loose, the Celtics will take full advantage, noting that Boston has been on an absolute tear, making good on 45, 56, 43, 43 and 54 field goals over its last five contests. Boston has also held three of its last four opponents to fewer than 40 made field goals. Take Boston.

Milwaukee will begin to defend its title against Chicago, which stumbled into the playoffs while losing four of its last five games. The Bulls are 6-16 ATS in their last 22 games. The Bucks had won three straight before losing at Cleveland on the final day of the regular season when they rested their starters. However, the Bucks did show some scoring depth with Sandro Mamukelashvili, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, and Jordan Nwora combining for 79 points.

The Bulls are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games and 7-21 ATS overall as underdogs. Milwaukee is 6-1-1 ATS in its last eight conference quarterfinal games. Chicago has some key injuries, including Zach LaVine, who is questionable with a knee injury, and the Bulls already have lost Lonzo Ball (knee) for the rest of the playoffs. Take the Bucks.
