M.Scherzer u5.5 strikeouts +145

Simply hurt. Not a huge strikeout guy anyways. Guy is a mound visit away to the IL

And then he was gone again, calling out his catcher to give him a break, telling Toronto Blue Jays Manager John Schneider that, after five innings, he could not start a sixth. He used to plan for 110 pitches. On Monday night, his achy thumb could withstand only 71.

“I could really tell the fatigue was starting to set in there,” Scherzer told Sportsnet after the game. “The thumb was an issue, and it was starting to leak into the forearm.”

This is how the 40-year-old must live these days, throwing what he can until his right thumb cannot stand it, trying to make sure he does not hurt another part of his arm much worse. He uses the word “if” when he talks about pitching in 2026. He doesn’t know exactly what he can give the Blue Jays in 2025.

“It’s totally day-to-day. You never can be sure anymore."

I wouldn’t say “not a strikeout guy” - as he’s averaged better than a k an inning the last couple of years - but very valid concern with his being on a short leash at best and at worst is a minor pain away from exiting the game.

No way I see him going more than 5 today - so 5.5 is probably a coin flip to be honest - but give me a 50/50 chance and +145, that’s a bet sharp bettors will take every time. Should be -145.

Only book I play at that gives me prop options is DraftKings - and it’s u6.5 -160 there. Still - I’ll take those odds as I don’t see him getting 7 today - even against a free swinging Angels team in the Skydome. I’ll follow you for a nickel. Let’s get this.

Also the reason I’m staying away from the heavy fave Jays today. -205 is way too high for this guy.

Might play Angels and u9.5 - hope it stays a low scoring game but if Angels start hitting him hard - I’m still in a good position.

2-1 Angels T3

4ks - but pen is already up and going for Toronto.

Unless he gets quick - I don’t see him getting to 6. Next inning is likely it for him as he’s not looked great so far.
