The kid is pretty awkward, but the interview is interesting (to me). He fell victim to touts and racked up huge losses at a credit bookie. As always with compulsive gamblers, there's a lot of talk about his low points, but no talk about paying people the money he owes them.

Great podcast! The photographer that started it was on joe rogan. Interesting episode with Joe.

I'm checking it out now.

What do you mean no talk about paying the money ? Why would he talk about that? He made bets he couldn't cover, it isn't rocket science.

If a normal person was telling a story about being $20k in the hole, their recovery story would end with paying back the $20k.

I've had a lot of experience with reformed compulsive gamblers. Every one of them will talk about their low points and owing money, but after they've stopped gambling I've never met one that went back and made good on their debts after they stopped. This kid is no exception.

When you know someone IRL who has gone through lean times because they lent money to a degen who refused to make good on the debt even after quitting gambling and getting back on their financial feet it changes your perspective a bit.

Shit, good point.

In my social circle , I'm the biggest degen and I've never asked a single soul to cover my gambling losses.....then again I rarely bet over my head
