Wow interesting take... "They did for the media attention."

Could be true but, a sex toy? I would expect to see more "fights" (i.e. refs not calling anything) to draw more attention. Might be a little more media friendly than a sex toy.... just a little.;)

But does a WNBA fight create the “sticky” content that will put this on all the news sites - probably not.

Keep in mind 97% of the general public has no clue of who is in the WNBA nor interest - so if a story about the WNBA hits their feeds - they scroll on by. Granted they went from 99.99% ignorance of the league prior to Caitlyn Clark’s arrival (on par with Major League Fishing and the Pro Poker Tour as far as name recognition) - but a story like this checks a lot boxes. As they say - sex sells and being a female league it allows them to both use sex to draw eyeballs and not promote their players in a sexual way (as 95% of them have zero in the way of sexual appeal to the average male).

13-65 year old Males spend the vast majority of $$ on sports and account for the highest valued eyeballs on sports ad spots. Want to get them to watch a sport - hunt their might be a sex toy tossed out in the middle of a game.

I wonder if they would be as stringent with applying the law with someone who threw a teddybear on the court?

It just doesn't seem fair.
