Damn Bobby so sorry. We lost our old lab about 3 months ago and it still hurts.

They are definitely family

I’ve had to do this 4 times myself over the years, you most definitely want to be there for your dog, he would be there for you, it’s stressful enough for them to go to the vet. It’s a straight forward deal once the IV is in, they inject a sleeping drug which acts really fast, then the heart stopping drug, in my experiences it’s a peaceful process that is over in less than a minute. Don’t drag this out if he is suffering, put him to rest, best of luck.
Yes that's exactly how it played out. It was very peaceful

Thank you everyone for the kind words and condolences. I know it will take time to process him not being here anymore but I believe we did the right thing and not let him suffer anymore than he already was

That’s so hard. Really sorry to hear.
You did do the right thing and that was your job.
So hard to deal with that. It truly sucks.
