How much would you say you are up
this year ?
Not exactly sure. I’d have to go back and check exact figures at the 4-5 books I play at. I know I’ve had a lot of payouts in that range I like to cash out at $500-750), and even a few in the 1k-2k range.
Probably between $7,500-$8,500. Maybe even a bit more. Maybe a smidge less. Now I’m curious and will check one of these days before football kicks off.
I know I’ve only had one losing week (about $450) since the US Open Rory debacle. And in just in the last two-plus weeks I have made close to $3k.
Last couple of years have been really good.
I hit at a real nice percentage in football but didn’t win as much as I could have because, like I think I told you before, I was playing very conservative after I got that $19k MG Class Action Check.
Had a good playoff season in NFL.
NBA was definitely hit or miss but had a good run in the playoffs. Did pretty well in March Madness.
Golf majors has been good to me other than the $675 I put on Rory live headed to day 4 that would have paid $3k. That one definitely hurt. That was part of my worst week all year. Probably minus $1,800-$1,900. But hit Scottie Masters, Xander with both his major wins, and Bryson in US Open.
Had a pretty good year making spot plays on NASCAR too.
Overall, haven’t gone on tilt much at all other than the Rory bet, and the last two Monday nights, which thankfully worked out. I keep a pretty cool head most of time when it comes to this stuff, which has probably made me a even-plus as you say gambler most years, as opposed to, say my 20s, when I was pretty reckless (spending a lot of time at the horse track, drinking while gambling, etc.) I tell myself now those are roads to brokesville.
And I really look at that Rory week as a huge positive. Years ago I would have definitely tilted a lot more than the amount I lost that week chasing to try and get it back. Probably losing a lot more in the process. The fact I’ve only had one losing week since makes me feel pretty good. A lot of luck involved to be sure but it also lets me know how far I’ve come as a gambler.
