Pulled an all-nighter Monday night - luckily made some coin along the way

Couldn’t sleep worth a damn. Not sure why. It hadn’t happened in a long time and this is the second time in a week.

My wagers throughout the night

-Deposited $150 at WW and bet on Cleveland. Easy Winner. Balance $250

-Live bet Opelka vs Duckworth to win $100 Washington DC Tennis ATP. Lost the first set 14-12 tiebreak, bet looked dead in the water. Duckworth finally chokes on his serve to send to a third set and my guy wins a long match that lasts until about 1:30 am my time. Balance $350.

-I was going to go to bed and call it a night but I was wired from the tennis so I deposit $100 into BetNow to play a little Jacks or Better. Hit two four-of-a-kinds and a couple of flushes and a couple of straights within the first 20-25 minutes of playing. Win $20 more on BlackJack. Cash out $200.

-Put the phone on a good podcast that usually helps me sleep. Told myself I wasn’t going to pick up the phone again, but still couldn’t get tired. So of course I picked it up again and got greedy on a random tennis match. Lost $100. WW Balance back to $250.

-So of course I’m pissed. Tilting a bit. Scan the live tennis until I see a line I like. Found a good angle I thought. Bet some character named Lambert Ruland to win the first set -130 tied at 3–3 in a ITF event for my $250. Shortly afterward he breaks and wins the set pretty easily from there. Balance $442.

By then it’s damn near 4 am. And I’m really not tired. I’m resigned it’s going to be an all-nighter. I see Spain-Greece hoops tips in 4 minutes so I scour for a good preview article and thankfully find a great one that says Spain has enough big bodies to throw at, and frustrate Giannis and to take the 4.5 points. I buy it up to 6.5, risking my winnings, $292 to win $182.50. Great game. Spain comes up big late first half and late in the game. Balance $624.

It’s 6:15 am and the sun is starting to come up. I’m finally tired. I put in for a payout in full from WagerWeb.

In all - $474 profit WW. $100 BetNow.

Very lucky. It’s been a long time since I’ve bet like this because as my man @JDS says it’s not an even-plus style long-term. I’ve been lucky enough to get away with it twice in the last two weeks.

Slept in until 1 pm. Woke to both payouts processed by the books.

Very few 'styles' are profitable long-term. Books and linesmakers you bet into, adjust. Bettors who bet into the same markets you like, evolve.

I gave up on the idea of making a living from online bookies quite a while ago. Doesn't mean I don't forget that decision and go on a betting binge a couple of times a year. Totally worth every dollar I lose (and of course, I lose more than I win in these situations). Again, it's worth it since IT IS POSSIBLE that some time soon I'll hit it really big - despite being a big underdog in this battle.

oh and...once I start 'scanning live tennis lines', I just indulge into the action. I know it's no good for the bankroll... but am I really supposed to try and make every breath I take, +EV?

As long as we enjoy it it's all good. Thanks for sharing man :)

A night like that makes me look and feel like the poor man’s @dougtushyterror
I honestly think it's about conditioning your brain. Chances are doug feels less alive winning 10k than I do, hitting one of my $50 bets to win $138.50

I used to bet big but that was a while ago. My brain forgot, my dopamine receptors reset. I'm happy betting $10 to $100 again :)

That’s pretty much my philosophy of late but I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot more winning days and weeks than not the last 18 months.

I try not to leave too much in any given book. Build a small deposit into about $600-700 range. Then withdraw about $500 and try and build again.

Even if I had lost the above balance somewhere along the way, it was still a small $150 deposit beginning.

But still, last night I committed the cardinal gambling sin - Don’t Ever Chase - and got away with it. So I consider myself lucky.🍀

At some point I’ll have to reset my dopamine receptors if I can’t continue to win. That’s fine I don’t have a problem with that. This thing we do as gamblers adjustments are necessary all the time.

Although it may have been a stressful night, you came out a winner. I assume that was stressful or was that fun for you BJ ?

Good job Bigjay. Profit on the night....
When I was younger, I'd do the same on Pokerstars. Would hate the next day after getting a few hours of sleep in the morning.

How'd you feel yesterday after the sleep?

Funny you should mention that amount cuz that was the exact outcome last night. Feel more relieved than anything cuz the alternative would've been losing 13k if Tiafoe lost. The novelty of winning a huge amount & getting hyped up has worn off a long time ago.

Humans are going to human. For every Dougy the forum legend story, there's a Watanabe@ceasar's story... I'm not going to stop doing this any time soon, but nor am I going to let it destroy things I've worked so hard for.

Pretty tired most of the day Tuesday. Didn’t get much accomplished.

Slept for more than 11 hours Tuesday night though and woke up feeling refreshed finally.
