Just some advice for the thread. Keep your New Year’s resolutions modest. Usually all the real good & bad shit that happens throughout the year comes by surprise. My point is, for most of us here life is a marathon, don’t get in over your head with any one thing. Choose balance not obsession.

Anyone who accomplished anything great was obsessed. Kobe Nadal Jordan Mayweather balance does not create these type of people. Depends on how you're wired. You have to be a bit crazy to achieve things outside the norm

Not my style at all, I feel like you miss out on the joy of life chasing extreme measures. Being great at anything was not my point in my message.

be happier
Are you actively doing anything to become happier? I listen to a radio show by Dennis Prager. He has "The Happiness Hour" every Friday where he talks about things we can do to be happier.

One frequent guest is Dr. Stephen Marmer, a psychologist at UCLA. Last week he talked about how we become happier the more grateful we are. He suggests reminding ones self about how good we have it and to do it on a regular basis.

He sometimes gets creative. He suggests trying to think of things we can be grateful for that are simple. For example, he asks us to ask if we have a roof over our heads? Do we have food on a regular basis? Can we drink clean water? Many people don't have the luxuries for which we take granted.

Speaking of clean drinking water, he mentioned how Groucho Marx was asked about how a certain restaurant was. He said "It's good, try the water."

I like this philosophy on life.

To those who enjoyed reading Chinese astrology:

"2023 is the year of the Water Rabbit, starting from January 22nd, 2023 (Chinese New Year), and ending on February 9th, 2024 (Chinese New Year's Eve). The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.

People born in a year of the Rabbit are called "Rabbits" and are believed to be vigilant, witty, quick-minded, and ingenious.

The most compatible zodiac signs for Rabbits are Goats, Dogs, and Pigs.

Years of the Rabbit include 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, and 1927."

It’s unreal here during that time. 8-10 days everything is closed. But before that the preparation is unreal. Never seen anything like it in my life. Puts China to shame as far as decorations, trees , family gatherings, parties the whole 9.

I just also want to add this for everyone. I just learned this the past few days to never seek validation from anyone, not from your friends, siblings, or family. Just don't.. and just trust yourself.
”Quote of the day”. Genie spitting knowledge in forumville lately.
I wish genie would have convinced my ex of this

She lives & breathes her family's every word

Never had a problem with her being close to her family (9 brothers & sisters and a ton of nieces & nephews) but most of the time she treated them as #1 over her family at home (Me and the kids)

Omg my ex wife was the same exact way no bull shit. Some women are so ruthless against their spouses. I’m glad you got out of that toxic relationship. They’re better partners out there for us Wags.
