NEW: Over 1.65M people have signed a petition to free the illegal immigrant truck driver who made an illegal U-Turn, taking the lives of 3 Americans.

The petition argues that Harjinder Singh should be sentenced to counseling or community service.

Some supporters are leaving video messages, like the ones below.

"We, the undersigned, respectfully petition for clemency or sentence reduction on behalf of a 28-year-old Punjabi man who, in a tragic and unintentional incident, caused a truck accident that resulted in the loss of three lives," the Change . org petition says.

"Consider alternative sentencing options, such as restorative justice measures, counseling, or community service, aligning with both accountability and compassion."
