A dead person is automatically free of all criminal/ civil liabilities, right?
Ken Lay was the guy at Enron that was convicted of crimes but appealed them. He died while the crimes were under appeal and therefore:
On October 17, 2006, the conviction was overturned due to abatement ab initio, a legal doctrine which says the death of a defendant during an appeal results in a vacated judgment.

Ok - so he served 5 months in the early 90s.

So what changed (aside from Rose passing away) between Trumps first time and today ?

I suspect we know the answer - not a damn thing.

Just another cheap publicity stunt to distract from the chaos and take advantage of a dead man’s popularity with Joe Public.

If Trump felt so sympathetic - why not pardon him while he was alive ? Fear of Rose saying something and pulling the spotlight away from Trump ?
