But casinos are smart - they have adapted to “modern” gamblers.
For example - what worked years ago - females and free booze of course only attracted males. Now they use flashy video screens and things that captivate profitable female gamblers too (over 40 - bored - disposable income).
Spent 2 years in community college studying this shit for a reason. I’m far from an expert at it - but the more you understand how they are trying to beat you - the easier it is to overcome their advantage and use it to yours. Any good gambler knows long term the odds are NEVER in their favor - BUT if you can work the comps properly you can change that as casinos will absolutely use comps to entice the gamblers they value most (and sometimes over comp just to keep you away from the competition).
It’s no different than the alcohol, soda wars or big tobacco in the day to me. You have product that cost little to “produce” - but you spend millions advertising it because it grosses billions in profit. You don’t care if everyone on the planet loves you because the 20% that use you are so profitable you have F you money to tell the other 80% where they can go.
It’s also why Vegas is failing right now. For far too long they thought they were “special” - that people would pay a premium for their service because they did it better than anyone else ever could. Turns out you can turn off people by over pricing your mediocre product to the masses while failing to protect your whales from being poached off by competition closer to home for them and having your government making them think twice about coming to the USA to spend $$.
