Did everyone forget Ohtani is a PITCHER, too? This is INSANE
I'm thinking the fact he didn't pitch this year contributed to this performance.
He wouldn't be as tired on days that he's pitching (or subsequent days as DH asfter pitching).
It might be hard for him to repeat this while pitching. Would love to see it but, wonder if it can happen.

I don’t get the fascination with owning the ball.

I mean let’s say it does bring $250k at auction - auction house takes 20-25% - taxes nav another 36% at least. Fan gets $100-125k max. Now not bad - but again to me not “life changing”.

What do you do with it once you buy it ? Cut it into a million pieces and put it in baseball cards ? Loan to Cooperstown ?

It’s not like someone is going to pay admission to look at it. Personally I’d tell Ohtani if he wants it - 100k, meet and greet and season tickets for life. Club can afford to give tickets - and getting to hand it over in person is a one in a lifetime thing.

What is Bonds record breaker worth these days - probably a 1/5 of what it was at peak market - ditto McGwire’s. What happens if someone else goes 50/50 ? I don’t see 60/60 being possible - but never know.
