I had many family members burned in Auschwitz but you can't deny Hitler was a great leader and had a vision. Just distorted at times. Just like Charlie Manson, he was a great man.OK.... Now you're getting me fired up Flyingillini.
I'm not a fan of the guy but I love history and the history of WWII is my favorite era to read about.
I'm going to sound like an absolute nutjob but, I would watch these old documentaries on Military channel covering anything about WWII all day. There is also a show on that channel called the Hitler Chronicles where the talk about his personal life and beliefs and why he made some of the decisions he made in the war. Love that stuff.
Communism rules JJ, it is not what most people think it is. America got all hung up on communism because when they saw the Rocky movie. It work and works well.Strong leaders always the best regardless on how tough they were
usa needs a form of communism to straighten it out
Illini, give me your synopsis of the 1960s. Hell of a lot happened in that decade. Can we get some Hitler history up in here ? He was a fascinating person with a lot of misunderstanding about him.
I can't speak on the 60s. I go to @Brock Landers for that time period for my information, He is the expert. The only thing I do know it was the best era for cars. That is as much I as I know.Illini, give me your synopsis of the 1960s. Hell of a lot happened in that decade.

Illini, this is good stuff. I really think these threads need to be separated into categories. Can we get some civil war talk going? What was the real reason for the Civil war? Lets discuss the cause and effect!

Please discuss the conspiracy of John Wilkes BoothAll economics. The economics of slavery, textiles, and state’s rights.
The morality of slavery was only an issue used to gain support for the war.
Discuss…
Wow, what a response, I think you are in the running for one of the most knowledgable historians on this forum. Good stuff!Illini, this is good stuff. I really think these threads need to be separated into categories.
The Civil War is an animal onto itself. If I could give a textbook answer, it might be:
*Causes of the Civil War:
1) North/south dispute over slavery
2) Disagreement over States' Rights
*Outcome:
...A hell of a lot of (un-necessary) bloodshed
...Treaty signed at the courthouse in Appomattox
*Aftermath:
...Lincoln shot not long after that.
...Andrew Johnson mangled the Re-construction of the South.
Southern rock band REM may have summarized it best when they released their album "Fables of the Reconstruction".
How about Desert Storm? What is the real truth behind it????
