Nah, I don't think so, yet. Just a lot of homers paired with talk of more players using this type of bat.

Not everyone uses it and it's not for everyone's swing. There's a tradeoff between the speed of your swing and the mass.

We have a lot more analytics now so players are trying to optimize, but I'm not so sure it's proven to result in more HR's just yet. By all rights it should over time as tech gets better and the bats are customized.

Judge doesn't use it.

One thing is for sure, good batters getting jammed isn't as jammy as it used to be if you can get a hit off the label.

It's my understanding the torpedo bats are not made of the hardest wood as well.

They won't be for everybody but customizing more and more bats should make bats better for everybody.

If it igets out of hand, they'll just de-juice the ball and swing the pendulum back towards pitching.

Judge says why change what's been working.

Part of its psychological in my opinion.

Yes - there is a slight advantage probably - but still have to make contact with the ball. You have guys regularly striking out 150 times a year now.

So let’s say hitters are able to hit the ball 3’ further with the larger sweet spot - how many more HR’s does this equal for most players ? 2? Maybe 5 for a guy like Judge ? It’s an advantage - but 5 hits over a season and a couple of HRs isn’t going to suddenly turn a guy hitting .260 and 15 HR into an all star. It’s going to make him a .266 hitter with 18 HR’s at best - but the confidence boost may encourage him to loosen up the swing and boost his productivity.
