Is Switch 2 as powerful as a PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X?​

No, the smaller form factor and components needed to make a handheld console to rival the power of Sony and Microsoft's flagship home consoles would make that console prohibitively expensive for most of us.

As a rough guide, thinking of Switch 2 as a PS4 Pro+ will get you in the ballpark. In some ways it's arguably more powerful, though its size comes with caveats in other areas.

Not sure how it compares to #1 but it's apparently super convenient. You can carry it around with you anywhere.

If they come back with the classic Nintendo games, I'll get one.

Remember - hardware - you make a sale 1x on - and you’re done. You make no money when it’s resold and make nothing further if the hardware purchasers don’t download new games from your App Store.

Now companies like MSFT/Sony will sell consoles at a practical loss as they can easily absorb it and they make a ton selling games that cost $70 for a 30% markup - developers take all the risk creating the game and have to kiss ass to the console maker to stay on their good side - so they will pay the console tax to get on their app stores.

Nintendo has long taken the stance of lower cost consoles and making a profit everywhere - they cannot just absorb the hit to margins like their bigger competitors. Consoles make up a small percentage of others sales - but Nintendo creates a lot of their own games using their classic characters. It’s a smartly managed company really.

I think this has been priced in to the stock - I mean compare that to many other stocks.

Just like many great companies - time to buy is BEFORE the next great idea - then sell as the product nears launch. Even if it’s their biggest hit ever - there will be dips along the way.
