They should have made these changes before now. Why does it take for something to happen for them to make a change?

The NFLPA is urging the NFL to implement changes to the concussion protocol. The NFL says changes are "likely" but didn't commit to a timeline.

The players don't want the changes.

The next step is a league wide rule saying "3 confirmed concussions and you are ineligible for 24 months" which would effectively end careers & guaranteed money, which they've fought for.

Concussions = less guaranteed money.

This is not as crazy as it sounds.

It would reinforce blocking & tackling techniques

Eliminate the helmet as a weapon

More or less force teams to run more because DBs will be interception machines w no gear on and QBs will not take the hits in the pocket, they will unload the ball or go down.
