CB Eric Allen, DE Jared Allen, TE Antonio Gates and WR Sterling Sharpe are the newest members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They will be inducted Aug. 2 in Canton, Ohio.

Especially Eli despite his only having above-average career stats

Gates deserved it.

Sterling Sharpe deserved it - great career cut short.

Eric Allen hasn’t made it in what - a couple of decades? Good player - but what changed this year ?

Jared Allen again very good - but a lot of guys who deserve to be in Lyle Alzado and LC Greenwood for example - Gastineau too. A lot of the argument for HOF is stats based for him and unfair to older guys.

Kuechly was a beast.

If Eli wasn’t a Manning - would we even be having this conversation ? He won a couple of super bowls - ok, good on him. Championships alone don’t make a QB HOF worthy - especially when they were surrounded by top talent everywhere.

Nice guy and he will get in eventually likely - but for me just above average. Yes - there are plenty of others in who are comparable- but that is not justification to open the doors to anyone who exceeds the stats of someone who barely snuck in themselves.
