LMAO I was on the main page and was about to click the thread to add to these posts but didn't even know which thread we were having this discussion.

I saw Jefferis' thread and thought "probably not in that thread" and passed it up.

lol

No worries - interesting info.

And agree - there is no “one size fits all” home court. Obviously some teams bring the fans to every game (Duke/Kansas come to mind) - some just to be traditional rivals or when the big boys are in town and some can’t bring fans even when they are winning.

College is such a wide open thing - obviously the teams steeped in tradition have better attendance and louder crowds in general. But some just have so many seats to fill and so much else going on it feels like no one cares.

Couple of slight/no home court advantages I can think of personally are Ohio State and Miami. Been to VC Arena many times - big place but for hoops it can be a bit “dead” - not at all like St John’s would be. It’s only a slight advantage to me. Miami is another place - again big school but with so much else to do in town - never felt like college hoops were a priority. They don’t get the crowd support other schools enjoyed by others in the ACC.

Football has similar advantages - but I think it’s overhyped at times. KC in Arrowhead - Toledo in the Glassbowl. Refs of course a factor too and home crowds CAN affect how they call a game. College kids on the road though are more intimidated- especially young ones.
