Let me see if I get some of the major turning ponts in the history of the league....

• Defense disappears. Its all about the 3 and offensive focus.
• Fans become less interested.
• Players do not appear to be incentivized to play hard during the regular season.
• Fans become less interested.
• Players start taking rest days....
• Fans become less interested.
• NBA starts in-season tournament w/ player payouts to incentivize players to play hard.
  So, the tens of millions of dollars in contracts players have are not incentive enough?
  Players will revert to their lack of effort in play once the in-season tourny payout is over.

Its not a perfect analogy but Nascar did this crap. Lost their audience and started tweaking the rules to try to get them back to no avail. Now Nascar is a joke and the NBA is headed their quick.

Well they have a $77B 11year deal with Disney, NBC, and Amazon.
That's a load of money they can live on while ratings continue to drop.

This is why they feel they can put out a sh!t product and still get the money. The problem lies when Disney/NBC/Amazon lose viewership because of it. Eventually someone at those companies will have some 'splainin' to do.

Yep. I see these networks eating some losses.

I just can't see a new contract in 11 years being anywhere near this amount. Similar to Nascar, subsequent contracts will be much much smaller due to the skrinking audience.

Nothing compared to watching Larry Bird or Michael Jordan. Barkley. Magic. Hakeem. LeBron can play for 20 years because you can't touch him. Detroit punished Jordan. Probably took 3 years off of his career.

I still watch this garbage product probably because I bet on it and also because I'm a basketball junkie. The NBA has changed though it isn't what I grew up with in the 80's and 90's and that's probably why the ratings are down. Magic is right guys don't hate other teams any more there are no compelling rivalries anymore and guys are more than willing to join forces and form super teams.
