Interesting idea being considered by MLB...
Not all the details are worked out but the concept would add a twist to the game.

Golden-At-Bat Rule

.... a “Golden At-Bat” could involve both teams getting a once-per-game pass to substitute a hitter, or maybe just one team (whichever team is trailing in a later inning). He also brought up the possibility that a player could potentially bat twice in a row, if he’s called out on his first-at bat in the inning.

The player the subsitute batter was hitting for would remain in the game, just not bat this one time.

I like the idea but they should definitely limit the use to once/gm per team.

The game cannot be saved.

The fan base is white business class & their kids, but the players are latin gang bangers. There's no more connect, and America's latino families cannot afford the tickets/ beers or parking.

Dead sport that daily alienates the remaining white fans by integrating stats, changing rules, being hypocritical in goverence and denying immortal status to the last generation of great players due to their efforts to save the game.

They are going to be trying all kinds of crap to make the game exciting and draw fans.
Expect bigger changes.

IMO the issue with a lack of fans in certain markets is that by increasing the amount of playoff games they have cheapened the importance of the regular season, so by consequence many fans don't bother watching/showing up. I don't think a "golden batter" rule will change this.

The gimmick I'd like to see baseball try is to shave the regular season down to 150 games. With less supply the demand will be less watered down.

Just my opinion...

Good idea.

I'd like them to try and get more parity amonst the organizations. There's a salary cap and penalty, etc... But it doesn't effect teams like the Dodgers or Yankees.

If they made changes so that the talent was spread out across more teams fans would show. You don't want to have teams like the White Sox barely scraping out 40 wins in a season. No one wants to go see that kind of baseball.

I’m take that idea over the proposed golden at bat any day.

Less games and more importance on using pitchers wisely as well as all around players and not late defensive changes.
I think you are responding to the runner starting out on 2nd base??

I agree about preserving pitchers, but you know what would be an EVEN BETTER idea ?

To have ties

I mean what does it hurt? Why are ties so bad?
The best teams are still going to the playoffs regardless.

Play 1-2 extra normal innings (nobody starting off on 2nd) and if no winner after that it’s a tie

That runner starting off on 2nd base when it didn’t even really happen would be like the NFL making a rule in OT where they automatically take turns giving each team a pretend TD (6 points) and taking turns kicking the extra point until someone missed

In other words, the touchdowns never really happened so why are we awarding 6pts??

That’s the same way I see it with the guy being put on 2nd base. It never happened and just plain stupid lol! 🤷‍♂️

They just don't want 19 innings is why. But for a total especially under bettor it throws a big wrinkle In it. Because say you have a 3-3 tie game say under 8 1/2 and they both get one now it's 4-4 and your fucked when previously game could end 3-4 or 3-5 and still be good its straight bullshit..
