he has a chance to opt out but the mets can block that by adding 4 million dollars per year to the remaining 10 years. so its more like a team option than it is a player opt out

and no if he opts out the contract would end after just the 5 years and he would be a free agent again

I think he would possibly still collect some of the deferred money that was tied to those 1st 5 years. the contract does seem bit frontloaded as well with like 300M of the 750 paid in those first 5 years
