This Memphis team is a team on the bubble to make the Big Dance, so in hindsight this is a game they need to win. I think they know this as a group and are properly motivated to reserve their spot for March Madness prior to the Conference Tourney. N. Texas is not a tournament team unless of course they win their conference championship, but they do have stiff defense in the AAC and nationally allowing only 60.4 points a game.
Not quite sure if they are a slow paced team maybe Tanko can confirm that as that would inflate those low numbers. N. Texas is 2-5 last 7 and they come into this match up stumbling with a couple key guys being out. To my knowledge they will be out again, but not a 100% sure. Don't matter they can play and I'm still confident with this selection.
Now Memphis I know is not a team that covers spreads very often, because usually they are a huge favorite in their conference. I'm handicapping this as a SU game for me and they are a respectable road team SU. If Memphis can handle NT's ball pressure and avoid TO's I believe they can win by 10 or more. I think this line should be -2.5 Memphis so I'm taking them on the ML on some "low juice".
