Scherzer says it was the allowed rosin and sweat making sticky hands and the ump were taking issue with the stickiness.

This could get interesting.

Scherzer is like that though. Remember when he started stripping in front of the umps?

Also, Scherzer was already asked to change gloves before the inning. Apparently the first base ump approved the new glove but then inspected again.

Scherzer got pissed, yelled that it was rosin and got ejected. Notice Showalter isn't exactly defending here.

He may end up being ejected for arguing, not for a substance.

Yep. You're right. He does seem to be a "zero" fuse kind of guy.
Didn't he get fined for dropping the pants?

So a more detailed story came out on Scherzer....

Scherzer was confronted 3 times by the umpires about the "sticky substance".
> 2nd inning - had to wash hands with alcohol in front of umpire.
> 3rd inning - had to replace his glove which still had sticky substance in it.
> 4th inning - hands were extremely sticky AGAIN and he was ejected.

Highlights:

Scherzer:
"I'd have to be an absolute idiot to try to do anything when I'm coming back out for the fourth [inning],"

Bellino (umpire): "As far as stickiness, this was the stickiest it had been since I've been inspecting hands, which goes back three seasons," Bellino said. "Compared to the first inning, it was so sticky that when we touched his hand, our fingers were sticking to his hand. Whatever was on there remained on our fingers afterwards for a couple innings. It was far more than we've ever seen before on a pitcher during live action."

Potential 10 game suspension.

I think he's going to be out 10 days.

There seems to be a big hole in his story. He claimed heavy sweat and rosin made him sticky, but the umps question that as he wasn't checked coming off the mound, he was checked coming out of the dugout after sitting for half an inning.

Why you sweating so much in the dugout, Max? Apparently this was a heavy level of sticky too.

Not something they are seeing with other pitchers and rosin.
