Make this make sense - Highest Paid NFL QBs

Geno Smith just got bumped up today with the Raiders with a $75M 2-year contract (not updated below).
Sure timing of negotiating your contract matters but no way should Dak be paid $5M more than the next set of QBs.

Couple of items that initially standouts to me.....

• Trevor lawrence tied for 2nd at $55M
• Lamar Jackson is $8M behind Zac???
• Mahomes is even lower? How can Cousins and Murray be making more than this guy, ever?

Lamar now seems like the deal of the century for Baltimore , only 2 years removed from signing an MVP type of contract

I swear I've read in the past that some players put automatic escalation clauses in their contract so that they would always be one of the highest paid QBs during the term of their contract. Was i dreaming or did that happen?

Mahomes & Jackson should have done that. They have a great supporting cast but can you imagine how well/poor the team would play with just a middle of the pack QB?

Mahomes 45 milly a year seems like a discount for now, until he falls off. Which I do see that happening before 2032.
