Ok, I did a quick search.

Mr. Governor clearly wants the attention.

He's the Governor of the State. They are one of the best in the nation for multiple years now. They have Angel Reese, a huge national story. They are a huge national story.

They never come out for the anthem. This is not knew, this is not just this season. It's standard for them.

But he waits until now to post this? He's been Governor since October and was Attorney General before that.

That makes it feel a bit more of a photo op type moment than something more genuine. I guess it's easier to go on the offensive when others are doing it too, shields him from negative effects.

good find KVB. but why is that LSU coaches and players are never present for the anthem? Surely there must be some form of protest? Or another viable reason?

I was wondering that in this thread too, from what I can tell it's just the pregame routine.

Usually it's around 12 minutes before game time and there's just not out there at that time.

Somehow I doubt it started that way, but it sounds like this has been going on for a couple of seasons.

I just don't know what to make of the act. When I first came into the thread a few days back, I think it was video and I was saying that they're just disrespecting the singer at that point, implying any protest is just falling on deaf ears because nobody talks about it and nobody cares.

But I didn't know that they never go out there. I wonder how many other teams aren't present for the anthem at gametime, men or women.

OK thx. I personally feel their pregame routine should include being present and respectful for the anthem. Just my 2 cents. I would say that the coach is accountable for this absence .

Yeah, you go out to warm up right before game time, and it seems like an extra move when you’re already courtside. Not sure what they’re accomplishing in the locker room that they couldn’t in a huddle at that point when it’s so close to the game.

It’s definitely on the coach. It’s her “routine.”

But it doesn’t stop at the coach. They don’t need to make special rules or threats of scholarship loss or anything else. They can pull the coach aside and say…

“look, you’re not protesting you’re not making a point so just be out there for your pregame routine. At this point because you’re not protesting, you’re making a story out of nothing so quit being an attention whore and get courtside when your needed.”

Or something like that…lol… maybe not those exact words.

Hey Sharp thx for your take. I like your approach. However, I believe the LSU coach should have made it a point to be with her players on the floor when the anthem was played. If Iowa was there for the anthem why not LSU? Having said that there is for sure some who will look to divide us at every chance they get. What do you think of the governor of Of LA mandating that if you don't honor the anthem you lose your scholarship? To me it rings as woke on the right. Lol.

It's utterly ridiculous and he is just looking for his 5 mins of Fox News fame. That LSU coach is as conservative as it gets and even she is walking around locally calling this guy an idiot and a fool.

This is much to do about nothing. This is America and you have the right to stand for the anthem or you can take that time to run and grab that beer or hot dog or whatever the hell, that's part of what it means to have rights. All coaches in all sports have their pre-game rituals and they are important the fact that there is no set time for the Anthem to happen at different venues in a college setting makes it hard to be out there for every one of them etc. Does that make them less patriotic, hell no that's clown shit.

Do we stand for the anthem at concerts, or movie premieres, or Broadway? does that make all of those people less patriotic as well? I love the Anthem and I enjoy standing and listening to it but that's me and I am not going to push that on someone else who may feel like its not all that important.
