I have been 3 cruises 🚢 out of Singapore. They are really fun , beautiful ships and very nice. It’s a completely different vibe / environment than going on a cruise in America. It’s all Asian on the ship. I’m booking another one tomorrow. Deciding between Ovation of the seas or Navigator of the seas. I’ve been on them both. No complaints about either. I highly recommend going on a cruise out of Singapore. They have some good 7-10 days ones too.

Navigator of the Seas is an older ship but still in pretty good shape where is Ovation is a little bit newer with newer stuff on board hence the higher price

Illini - clearly never sailed out of the US (at least on the West coast) if you don’t think the damn ships aren’t at least 50% Asian. It’s almost all Asian everytime I go - typically Chinese but a small mix of other Asian nationalities too.

Bobby - Ovation is a nice ship. Almost positive that was one of the last one I was on. Nice - but I much prefer the Oasis class ships and above for having playmakers and other dining options.

Long Beach port is another story - did it one time, never again. Hate LAX and Long Beach - unfortunately just not alot of cruises originate in SFO or San Diego. Want to go back someday as I do really like the West coast - but so much starts in LA so it’s a no go as getting me on a plane for 5 hours is hard enough - knowing I’ll arrive in LA is enough to make it a hard pass.

I have went on one cruise out of California and it was in the 80s and I don’t remember it. I’m sure you are right but Asian Americans are very different than the “authentic” ones here. I have been around a ton of Asian things in California over the years. Asian Americans are very different than the ones here.

These aren’t “American” Asians - the damn line for US Customs for non residents was stupid long - 100% straight from China to here just for the cruises and Disney.

But yes - they are “Americanized” - these aren’t the locals who are cruising over there I am sure. It would be like the difference of walking into a strip hotel in Vegas vs the local racino in the Midwest customer wise - 1 is filled with big spending affluent foreigners to whom spending 5 figures for a few nights is nothing - the other is a bunch of locals looking for entertainment for the price of a first run movie in a theater. They are mot the same class of consumer.

I do want to cruise Japan/Asia some day - it expecting to be immersed in local culture of course - but just a small sampling/

Going on Quantum actually. I think that class of ships is nice as well although i dont think there's as many food options. Did Harmony and Navigator before.

I've sailed out of LA quite a few times on NCL, Carnival and Royal and never had any issues with the port
