The problem I think is JJ makes the mistake as many others - confusing “gambler” with chance taker.
A gambler only makes the play when they have a reasonable chance of making a profit. Too many people call themselves a gambler when in fact they are just chance takers.
A gambler only takes the chance when it’s to their advantage to do so. Chance takers will take a coin flip at even money- gamblers demand +101 pricing and to inspect the coin.
Worse - there’s the action chaser who will take the chance knowing long term that they will lose.

I don't even know where to begin, so I won't. I suppose it's a matter of how you define gambling, and I think it's being defined wrong here.
The chance taker is, of course, a gambler, and this is by objective definition.
