The Nationals acquired Abrams, left-hander MacKenzie Gore (elbow), outfielders James Wood and Robert Hassell and right-hander Jarlin Susana from the Padres on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Spin:Abrams recently exhausted his prospect eligibility, but at 22 years old, the lefty-hitting shortstop's developmental timeline fits in well with what could be a lengthy rebuilding effort for the Nationals. Though he's turned in an underwhelming .232/.285/.320 slash line over his 139 plate appearances in the majors with San Diego this season, Abrams' low strikeout rate (19.4 percent) and elite speed bode well for his chances of emerging as an impact big-league player as soon as 2023. He should get the chance to play on an everyday basis at shortstop for the Nationals for the remainder of the 2022 campaign, while Luis Garcia will likely slide over to second or third base to make room for Abrams.
Things are heating up here in SoCal pennant fever will run rampant.
Guess l got to get to Petco sooner than later. Feel bad for the Angels the second class citizens.
The Baltimore Orioles are contending for a wild-card spot, but that hasn't stopped them from letting players go at the trade deadline this season. A day after trading Trey Mancini to the Houston Astros, the Orioles traded closer Jorge Lopez to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.
The Orioles received four minor league pitchers: left-hander Cade Povich, right-handed reliever Yennier Cano, right-handed reliever Juan Nunez and left-hander Juan Rojas.
Here is the issue that I see. If they stay in same spot. They will play Mets/Atlanta on road in first round of playoffs. I don’t think they will beat either team, even with this trade. Just one man’s opinion.

Well look….you’re gonna take the pads -170 over Yankee dynasty teams with Ruth and Mantle. So it’s pointless to have you take a realistic look. But if they gotta go in and play DeGrom and Max….they aren’t beating them.
