I've been on 2 juries.

One was on a jury for child molester.

We had ~6-7 pages of instructions (way less than JD trial has). Took us 6 hours to get through the instructions in the jury room. We had to review them many times so everyone could understand them. It was painful

Once we voted, it was unanamous on 1st vote... guilty on all counts.

2nd one was breaking and entering... Guy broke into a house. His girlfriend lived there with her parents. She was an adult. He opened his girlfriend's bedroom window while she was there and climbed in. Parents called police and guy was arrested. On the stand the girlfriend stated that she had asked him to come over.

1 page of instructions. 10 minutes to find him not guilty. We didn't even look at the instructions. It would have been < 2 minutes to vote but everyone wanted to eat the donuts they had in the jury room.

Best thing I ever did was to make friends with a local policeman. Now when I'm called to jury duty and they ask during jury selection if you are related to or know a cop, I tell them my BEST FRIEND is SGT XYZ.

Haven't been picked since.
