Site that tracks strength of the dollar?

That would be the US Dollar Index.

It's a weighted geometric mean of the dollar's value relative to a handful of major currencies...that represent major trade partners.

Symbol DXY anywhere you look up stock symbols.

It's on the ICE, or Intercotinental Exchange as a Futures contract.

See if those say dollar up 1.2% this yr vs world average

Ill check

DXY is down -7.86% year to date.

Not really world average, but major trade partners.

Could abe a little outdated though, Sweden and Switzerland are in it, but China, Mexico, Brazil, and South Korea are not.

We work with the tools we have.

Always best to check dollar against individual currencies as well.

A strong dollar increases in value against other currencies in the foreign exchange markets.

So a strong dollar, or one that is "strengthening" is able to buy more foerign currencies than it could when it was weaker.

If you go on a trip to Europe, a stronger dollar will mean your dollar will buy more and if those Europeans came to the US in the same situation, their currency would be able to buy less.

We want a strong dollar with high demand as that helps us make the case for keeping the dollar as the world's reserve currency.

You can bet your ass that Russia, China, and even Iran like to question this status constantly.

So keeping high demand fo that strong dollar is important, especially now.

They might go after Trump for telling people to buy stocks before announcing the tariff pause. I suppose the NY AG would be the only one with authority that Trump doesn't control.

Unless congress does something, which would be wild.

It's not a good look, that's for sure, and Trump, being the head of a public traded company, would be presumed to know better and held to a more punishable legal standard.

Other heads would roll too. They can see who bought what that morning and tell for sure.

In another bad look, here they are celebrating from the "inside"...

I suppose, if one was short the market, they might consider hedging that with some call options on the SPY once the treasury auction successfully finished.

but I’m not sure, the trades would have to be looked at a little more specifically.

Could have been algos, could have, but that just might be reaching. Perhaps individual traders were hidden inside the algos.

Probably worth a second look.

Not surprised.
But, NOTHING will be done about it. If any insider trading charges are filed, DOJ will quash them. Why? Because Trump will order them to and a few of them were probably trading on the info as well. :ROFLMAO:

As far as I remember it, the attorney general of NY is the one who would prosecute insider trading.

As we learned last year, and despite the campaign rhetoric, the DOJ, the federal level, has no jurisdiction over the state AGs.

Reemmber when Trump calimed Biden was prosecuting him with a weaponized DOJ but then the country was taught that those two offices don't even talk.

So I suppose the AG of NY could investigate, but not sure they will.
