Is this the kind of champ we will have from now on in NIL/portal era?

Pretty good but not great champs?

None of those teams are great. I know Texas, if they happen to win, have been above average in a lot of their games this season

Ohio State definitely peaking but not sure if they are great like some of the champs we’ve had the past 25 years

I think the fact so many skill position players are transferring 2-3 times over 4-5 years chasing NIL money will keep teams from becoming outstanding.

I might be wrong and there will always be exceptions with guys only playing a year or two with a team if your name is Joe Burrow and your receivers and Chase and Jefferson.

Now that we’re fully entrenched in the NIL/portal and 12-team playoff era I think we will continue to see average playoff games and pretty good, but not great champs

then maybe we should draw up contracts just like the pros…..
That’s what will end up happening and is why Stanford hired a “GM” in Andrew Luck. Others will follow I’m sure

I’ve mentioned the irony is this is exactly what got SMU the death penalty in the 80s. Having contracts where players got weekly or monthly payments throughout their stay at SMU for signing with the Mustangs

it's sooo crazy how Bama and the SEC lost their huge dominance right when players started to be allowed to get paid, OVER the table

There will eventually be a "Great" champion in NIL times.
Some school will layout massive funds and get the perfect set of recruits and the perfect coach to make it all gel. It'll be a fluke thing that won't happen often but at some point all the stars will align.
