Is there anything else worse than trying to work with a toothache?

Got a damn tooth that needs a root canal. Finally went to the dentist a week ago and of course it’s 2 weeks until he can fit me in.

I’ve put off going for way too long for no good reason other than I hate dentist. Don’t know why - never had bad experiences - just don’t like them and figure it’s going to hurt way more than it does.

I knew though it was inevitable - I go in, he will poke around and tell me to pull it or come back for a root canal and it will start hurting at the most inconvenient time. This pain can go away anytime - just constant throbbing dull pain. Makes doing anything impossible.

Are you using Orajel or any kind of painkiller in the meantime ?

Took Tylenol and laid down - it’s went away again.

Unfortunately - can’t always just do this.

I am actually shocked I’ve never had any issues before. Been a decade plus between dentist visits. I just put some temporary filling on it from time to time before finally going (made the decision I need to take health more seriously including dental health). Don’t want to wind up being one of those people who die from a damn rotted tooth infection hitting the bloodstream/heart.

Seriously though - this pain is worse than I was in after surgery last year - granted I was on some pretty good pain med I’m sure then.

Can’t wait to get it done and over with - probably cost a small fortune to do and plan on being out of commission a day as they are pulling a wisdom tooth too - but finally will be able to eat anything I want and not worry about breaking a tooth.

Believe it or not - I’ve never even had a cavity. The only pain I can liken this to is watching Prince F#CKIN’ Fielder hit a bottom of the ninth 2-out/2-on, 3 run HR to win 5-4, and thereby killing the last leg of a parlay which would’ve paid me $3,500…..

I'm like you @djefferis I HATE the dentist and haven't been in a while. I usually don't go until something is bothering me which is when it's usually too late

Can you imagine a guy scratching his nuts continuously all day? That would be embarrassing for him.

is the wisdom tooth impacted? that can be painful afterwards as well.

good luck. teeth pain is no joke. i had a dry pocket after an impacted wisdom tooth was removed and had to have antibiotic gauze placed in to heal and relieve. from the ages of like 12 thru 24 i never went to the dentist. my parents couldn't afford work i needed so i had to wait till i started working. lesson is don't neglect your teeth cause the end result sucks.

Not impacted - just chipped.

Like I said - no good reason for not going aside from not liking dentist. Went until I was 18 regularly - then went like 2 times the next 30+ years - both times for pain/getting tooth pulled.

Need to get over this irrational fear of dentist I know and start going regularly again. Getting old is no fun.

Everyone stayed the hell away from him like he had the plague... because he kind of did.

A toothache for me is always followed by a headache. Tsk tsk. Not a good feeling.

Get some CLOVE POWDER and apply.

........few drops of water to make paste, then apply.

Also take real, real low dosages ibuprofen.
