No - they aren’t looking great.
It’s a tough spot - do you give in to the people with torches and pitchforks gathering on social media - or support your student athletes who are innocent until convicted.
They opted to do the worst thing possible - support him until the crowd got louder and then turned their back on him. So he wins in a court and they are screwed - they don’t play him equal minutes to what he saw before the suspension - he wins and he can sue THEM for what they did. He loses and they look like they supported a rapist and the mob demands the powers that be be ousted.
Welcome to the stupid world of higher education and sports. There is 1 thing clear here - someone’s gonna pay - and it likely will not be the accuser. If he’s innocent - he has cause against the school for prejudicial treatment and punishment. They had no more evidence against him the day he was suspended than the weeks before - but they caved to their fears of being viewed as giving “preferential treatment” - and they were.
The thing is though - in the US justice system - the accused are ENTITLED to that treatment. Guilty until proven innocent and better 9 guilty men go free than 1 innocent be convicted and all that. Don’t like it - head to North Korea - I hear there justice is a little less criminal friendly. Otherwise - those are the rules here and they apply to everyone- regardless of athletic ability.
