Well it does matter lol

What if two equally-qualified women applied for the same job, and one got the job because she was willing to sleep with the right person?

Should the other woman be disqualified because she wasn’t willing to do that?

I’m not shaming Joy here, but no you should never have to have sex to get a job/promotion
But can’t you be the most qualified AND sleep with someone just because you wanted to?

How can anyone ever truly prove anything different other than assumption? 🤷‍♂️

Had it happen in my place of work recently

Legally you can’t fire two employees just because they are seeing each other no matter how awkward it is

Now if you catch them going at it while on the job, yes
@BMR Genie his this sort of stuff ever happened at BMR??

Lol. This is an HR matter, but no. It never happened in BMR.

Finding love in the workplace is always a bad idea though it's very common, especially for two regular employees. It only gets messed up if you get involved romantically with anyone who holds a managerial position or anyone who has an impact on the decision-making where you can benefit from it.

This reminds me of the common joke in PH between the boss and the secretary. Instead of saying "Good morning, sir", the line has changed to "Sir, it's already morning".

Last month I rode an Uber where the driver shared his story in his previous workplace. He said I was his 1st passenger since he just started the Uber job. He told me he was an IT in a tech company and had a good background/training and was promised to get promoted. A week b4 his promotion, his boss informed him that his fired and promoted his girl colleague instead. The moment he mentioned that it was a girl, I immediately reacted with.."oh, the girl has something with your boss" and he laughed and confirmed. I told him that he should have filed a case but the guy doesn't want any hassle and you can tell he's a religious type of guy with all the Hill songs background and a Bible in the car.

Sadly this is not gonna be the last time we hear these kinds of stories.

I'm saying it's fucked up if someone gets promoted for doing that over another qualified person
Agreed

But how do you prove a person in question is or is not the best person for the position?

It’s impossible to prove either way and ultimately a matter of opinion which should be left up to the person making that decision

Credentials & experience aren’t always the only deciding factors

This is why there are workplace policies. Putting someone in the position to try to "prove" one way or the other is bad practice for sure.

The sexual relationship simply existing ruins any hope of some kind of merit baased argument.

Genie is right...

And, again, this is why there are HR policies.

As much as a few of you would like to let sleeping to the top be normal and out of love, corporate and legal America have shunned those practices.

And it's pretty much a lock bet that they are not going back.

Thus is true genie

But it has to be detailed in company policies/handbook to advise against & prevent it and it isn’t with most companies

corporate and legal America have shunned those practices.

Let me be clear.

While there is no federal overall law against a workplace relationship, many legal issues can still arise from them.

Most often it's when things go sour, and harrassment claims start coming.

Corporations should be putting policies in place to avoid the everntual legal issues. And many do, especially larger ones.

Also to note, in California, I don't think a workplace can actually outright ban relationships, even between supervisors and employees.

But Those laws could have changed.

It has to do with the right to "freedom of association"

But again, if an employee feels pressured, and they sue for harrassment, they do have grounds.

Do you think Skip Bayless deserves to be on TV as far as a quality analyst ? I know that's not quite the issue here, but I never thought he was anything special for me to not change the channel on him when it was his time to speak.

So that begs the question.

Who's dick did Skip Bayless suck to get the job?
