I'm not using a local anymore. Haven't for a several years. Kind of faded away from him over time.
The one I used the most in the past, died of a heart attack a couple years ago anyway. I know there are several others around. Mostly older/retired guys with a set clientele. You can usually find out who is a decent one to use at one of the local bars where the weekly poker tournaments are held.
Why play with a local - unless you have a very solid relationship of trust with them ?
Plenty of online options out there - and you’re guaranteed to be paid and get bonuses/rewards.
For the recreational player - it’s just no longer worth it. Pro’s and those with limited options -it makes more sense to use a local - but the average consumer in the USA - no need.
I have never owned a gun just a BB gun. I'm a peaceful guy never hurt anyone. One of the bookies I knew was murdered and his son too shot but I think survived. Big news when it happened here.
