Buffalo with 1st down on 3 yard line with 21 seconds to go. I would fire the coach and tell him not to get on the plane. Time and play mismanagement at an all time low.
Houston had 3 timeouts and I think buffalo felt they needed at least one 1st down or they would be punting from goal line and giving the ball back to Texans too close to fg range after punting

So you lose in regulation regardless of the situation? At least make them use the timeouts if that is your fear. That game has to go to overtime as a coach. You cannot lose that Game in regulation. Just my honest opinion.

Here is that last drive from Buffalo.

ESPN calling each pass a "DEEP" pass.

They ran 3 plays and by the time the punt was over they used 25 of the 32 seconds left.

  • 1st & 10 at BUF 3

(0:32 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep left to K.Coleman (K.Lassiter). ** Injury Update: BUF-J.Allen has returned to the game. Penalty on BUF-K.Coleman, Offensive Pass Interference, declined.
  • 2nd & 10 at BUF 3

    (0:27 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep left to M.Hollins [W.Anderson].
  • 3rd & 10 at BUF 3

    (0:21 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep middle to C.Samuel [W.Anderson].

So yeah, 3 incomplete passes in a row with time winding down in a tie game.

I think Buffalo was going for the win with those passes, or at least trying a little too hard to flip that field position, like WAGS was saying.

I didn’t know he played that poorly. I guess it wasn’t worth waiting until overtime to lose.

Strange they would go to 3 deep passes when passing wasn't exactly working well through the game.

I realize it can be said that every play is it's own thing, but sometimes that bigger picture should be seen. No plays are really in isolation.

At least he didn't do this...

Look at every post in this thread and you will see you are the ONLY one who doesn’t know what was happening situationally during the last 21 seconds of a tied game.
I watched the entire Houston-Buffalo game start to finish.

Have become a big Texans fan last couple of years. We almost always get them noon game in Central Texas.

I understand clock management very well. I’ve talked about it ad nauseam here in numerous posts over the years.

Nothing pisses me off more than poor clock management in a game and unfortunately Mike McCarthy of my Cowboys is the absolute worst at it.

And by the way you do have misinformation in your original post like KVB said.

The Bills had it 1st down on their own 3 with 32 seconds left.

Honestly if they had it with 21 seconds left and 1st down they probably could have let Josh run a bit, throw deep three times, and the last play of regulation would have been the punt.

32 seconds gave Houston just enough time. With the X-factor of course being the good punt return to the Buffalo 46.

But to your point. Making Houston burn all their time outs would have been a good strategy too. But the Texans would have probably had a few more seconds if the Bills just ran three plays into the teeth of the Houston defensive line. Albeit with no timeouts remaining.
