So how much did state lawmakers get under the table for creating this s#it situation with only one sports book player in the state.
You know people were paid off for this.
A lot happened Tank
When ppl first started talking legalization in Florida to follow other states who were doing it, Disney feared it will somehow take away from them financially, so they backed & pushed an amendment that would require voters to first approve it on the ballots. And fine details would make it years before it had a shot
As usual voters were not well informed and were manipulated as Disney poured millions into the ads and it passed
Governor Desantis & the Seminoles found a legal way around it and Hard Rock was born
Opponents in the state which include other casinos and sports books such as Draft Kings, Fanduel, etc argued the agreement was illegal in different ways
Obviously the real reason these other companies were trying to intervene is because they didn’t believe the Seminoles should be the only ones allowed to operate in the state
Shortly after these opponents filed, Hard Rock was ordered to shut down
Long story short, after a long period of time the courts ended up siding with the state of Florida in their decision, and business opened again
The only hope now is that the state takes notice and gets enough complaints about Hard Rock and how horrible they are, so that things get put back on the ballot and it opens the door for other businesses/books
In the beginning I believed it was a win for Floridians.
But it sure didn’t take the Seminoles long to take advantage of their sole power.
Complaints continue to rise
