When my dad starting living alone after mom passed, we called daily just to check in even though he was in great shape physically and mentally.

We couldn't visit since we were 1500 miles away. We had a plan in case he never responded. We knew the neighbors well and could call them. They checked on him regularly too. I can't believe people that knew him didn't keep up with checking on him. Sad state of affairs.

When my dad starting living alone after mom passed, we called daily just to check in even though he was in great shape physically and mentally.

We couldn't visit since we were 1500 miles away. We had a plan in case he never responded. We knew the neighbors well and could call them. They checked on him regularly too. I can't believe people that knew him didn't keep up with checking on him. Sad state of affairs.

Right? No child should ever abandon the parent, no matter how painful their history was (except sexual abuse).

I bet his kids are now very active fighting for his inheritance.
