Actually I consider anything under 4.00 to be somewhat reasonable nowadays. Go see what you pay in other countries like G.B and Europe.
But pricing in EU / UK is a but different too - most cities are relatively densely populated and smaller vehicles are the norm.
When your drive is a 1/4 of what it is to get anywhere compared to many US population centers and the vehicle you drive uses 1/3 the gas - it’s not as bad - relative to your budget. Even in larger countries like Germany - isn’t diesel more common?
I mean gas in Houston is like what - 2.70ish - but it’s a damn hours drive to get anywhere and everyone drives a pickup or large SUV. Cali is always gonna be “special” with the tree huggers and their EVs. Overall though - no state aside from Hawaii comes close to their fuel prices - and again - taking a “long” drive in Hawaii is different than driving in the Midwest or Texas.
