Now that sports betting is legal in most states, we need the government to OFFICIALLY give us freedom to do the same offshore, so these books in the U.S. know they have competition & need to do better.

honestly it's the current struggle in my mind at night.

at work....im useful, im needed, im respected, im busy, im outgoing, im personable, yada yada yada

at home...im useless, my only hobby is watching sports and if i don't have money on the game, my attention towards it is less. i smoke and drink bc i have nothing else to do at home.

but then i rationalize it by thinking....this is our hobby, this is our personality. our knowledge on sports and players and the rules of the game and information we know is what makes us us

another example....saturday night i went to Saratoga Racino...it's all slots and video poker and video blackjack...no live dealers. I went with college friends I rarely see.

Girls are playing slots and I explain to them how hitting the jackpot works. The current jackpot was $18,700 or whatever and per the rules the max it can be is $200,000. So I explained how betting on slots and only a small % of each bet goes to adding into the jackpots and how the machine is expected to hit based on number of spins and yada yada yada. Blew their mind how I knew that information.

so everyone how information based on whatever their hobby is. Social media makes us think that every one is supposed to be doing a side hustle. The 5-9 after the 9-5. In reality, most people sit at home and scroll their phones and have TV on watching something meaningless

You have a real knack for explaining things in real time like how you do on The Lobby or just in person with those chicks. You could’ve been a teacher in your lifetime no bullshit. Great post & excellent perspective regarding the gamblers who are responsible with their habits & treat this like a business & not a “game“.

yesterday is perfect example. Day off on Sunday, I barely talked to my co-workers since it's a day off. Small messages with random people

I view gambling as entertainment and a challenge. Keeps the mind working by providing an opportunity to further develop analytical skills.

Interacting with people on forums provides the chance to get others ideas/new angles and helps kill time between work calls.

I played soccer from my earliest memories until 2007, where a torn MCL ended it for me. I worked 20 years in the financial industry in various markets ( Commodities , Options and eventually FRA and Sale & Repurchase agreements ). Capping and wagering on sports is the combination of my 2 passions. I love the games and i also enjoy the analytical side of sports gambling. Sounds like a common theme in this thread.
