On the evening of August 14, Nguyễn Sơn Street (Hanoi) became crowded as people gathered along both sides of the road, eagerly awaiting the moment the IL-14 aircraft with registration number VN-C482 was transported to its exhibition site. This was the special aircraft that carried President Hồ Chí Minh during the period from 1962 to 1969.
The IL-14 was a gift from the Soviet Union to Vietnam in 1957, one of the first five aircraft provided as aid, which included one IL-14, one Mi-4, one AN-2, and two Li-2s.
It was also the very first aircraft of the 919 Transport Aviation Regiment, tasked with transporting President Hồ Chí Minh and senior leaders of the Party, State, and Army on official missions both domestically and abroad during the resistance war against the United States.
