Russian Man Causes Mid-Air Chaos on Vietnam–Bangkok Flight, Deported
A Russian passenger caused chaos aboard a Vietnam–Bangkok flight after behaving erratically, stripping off his clothes, and attempting to force his way off the aircraft, prompting authorities to deny him entry to Thailand and deport him.
According to reports from Russian media, the incident occurred on a Nha Trang–Bangkok route when the 41-year-old man began acting abnormally shortly after speaking with another passenger. Witnesses said he repeatedly ran in and out of the aircraft bathroom, argued with cabin crew, and aggressively demanded that the plane door be opened while the aircraft was in flight. He reportedly shouted profanities in Russian and screamed “Don’t touch me,” behaving as if heavily intoxicated.
The Airports Authority of Thailand and Don Mueang Airport Immigration Police confirmed that the man arrived in Thailand on Thai AirAsia flight FD647 from Vietnam on January 29, 2026. He applied for entry under a temporary permit but was found to be heavily intoxicated and incoherent during questioning, unable to explain his actions or travel purpose.
Authorities also determined that he lacked sufficient financial means to support himself in Thailand. As a result, immigration officers denied him entry under Sections 12(2) and 12(9) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).
The man was formally refused entry and deported back to his country of origin on Thai AirAsia flight FD646 at 7:55am on January 31.
