The Filipino Coast Guard ship, BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), and its 84 member crew, led by colonel Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos, began a friendship visit to the central city of Đà Nẵng on April 14.

The Filipino Coast Guard ship, BRP Gabriela Silang, is the first to visit Việt Nam since the Philippines’ coast guard forces signed a Memorandum of Understanding with their Vietnamese counterpart in 2024.

Singapore Leads, Indonesia Second in Perceived Contribution to ASEAN Development.
According to findings from "The State of Southeast Asia 2025 Survey Report" by the ASEAN Studies Centre at ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore is viewed as the leading contributor to the long-term development and progress of ASEAN, with Indonesia ranked second.
The survey results show Singapore significantly ahead, with 64.4% of respondents recognizing its contribution. Indonesia follows in second place at 41.0%. Thailand and Malaysia are closely ranked next, identified by 26.1% and 26.0% of respondents respectively.
Further down the list, Vietnam was highlighted by 14.4% of participants. Brunei and the Philippines shared the next spot, both receiving 8.5%. Rounding out the member states were Cambodia (4.4%), Laos (4.1%), and Myanmar (2.5%).
This ranking provides insight into the perceived influence and contribution of each member state towards the collective goals and advancement.
