I guess this is the result of me being too exposed to all types of people during my younger yrs and the change of lifestyle at the time I arrived here in CR.
The bigger the business/karaoke facility the bigger the bribe, right? or the same amount of bribe to everyone?
All businesses here pay something, from the people selling on the street to coffee shops, to clothing stores, etc, everyone pays and it is all different and depends on many things. But something happened here. The one I was in the other night had a huge raid at their other location but opened the next night.

I have been in a raid here 5 years ago , I was pretty freaked out by it. They were talking a lot shit about me being there. The scary raids are in Thailand because they raid a lot of places and make foreigners do drug tests right on the spot.
I was going to mention Thailand. I used to work with a guy who lived in Phuket at one time. He ran a scuba diving outfit. He would tell me how the owner always had to pay kick-backs to organized crime.
That is so scary, Fly. The worst part is if they "planted" something on you during the raid. That is the point of no escape.
The motherland is very safe, they were not after me just very shocked to see a foreigner there. Thailand can be sketchy if you get drug tested.
For sure they also bribe the border patrol to operate their business, but poor women. I know they are doing it to survive, but I just hope no women are victims of trafficking.

Yes, it gets worse and worse every year. There are 4 different types you can get and I have had it once. Each time it gets worse and worse they said. I am terrified of getting it again but they won't give me a vaccine. I get bit all the time too and I pray that I don't get it again. I have a friend here that has had it 3 times, the 3rd time, he was in the hospital for a month.
