According to a report from Insider Monkey, which published an article titled “15 weakest currencies in the world in 2024,” Insider Monkey considered two main metrics: the inherent strength of a currency in relation to its exchange rate and the volume of foreign exchange trading. Information related to Forex trading volume and exchange rates is sourced from CMC Markets, a UK-based financial services company, and Forex.com. For ranking purposes, we used the latest exchange rates in relation to the US Dollar.
The Iranian Rial (IRR) ranked the lowest with 1 USD = 42,030.00 IRR, while the Vietnamese Dong (VND) ranked second with 1 USD = 24,462.50 VND. In third place was the currency of another Southeast Asian country, Laos, with 1 USD = 20,856.61 LAK. Other Southeast Asian countries included in the ranking are the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) with 1 USD = 15,619.25 IDR ranking fourth and the Cambodian Riel (KHR) ranking eleventh with 1 USD = 4,073.56 KHR.
