It’s amazing in downtown Yangon now. You would never think a war is happening. Everyone I’ve asked said it’s impossible to get to the Shan State. I’m trying tomorrow. 24 hours in a car. This is my 5th time in Myanmar it’s amazing here !

If I succeed in this it will be an historical event. 25 hours on dirt roads headed into a war zone. One guy said he’s 50% that I’m able to possibly get there with lots of bribes along the checkpoints

I’ve been to Mong La 3 times. It usually takes 20-25 hours with the worst and most dangerous road conditions imaginable. Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least. Opium/Heroin and meth production is all over the Shan State.

You see real poverty here. Worse than the Philippines. It’s probably the worst I’ve ever been around , Mozambique is a close 2nd.

Hearing it’s completely closed and impossible to get into due to the war. Im trying my hardest to get to Mong La and the Shan State. Christ help us all.

You would never in a million years know a war is going on now in Yangon. But there is a curfew from 1-4am.

I am one of those locals who will tell tourists not to go to that place because it's dangerous. If they tell you that, believe them.

The previous times I was let in Mong La I had to give my passport to the rebels at the checkpoint with a $50 bill ụp entry and $100 when I leave. They were told the $ was coming on the way out. No police are allowed in Mong La.

Not many westerners here. I’ve seen a few but not many. A lot of Chinese here and I’m hearing some Korean and a lot of Thai.

I have a good friend who works in Tel Aviv, he’s been there for 10 years. He said you would have no idea there is a war going on there.
