100% be fired over quitting. Fired means unemployment. quitting means you get jack shit

Congratulations on the big hit Doug
congrats on the nice hit although sorry for hear about the job loss. and 1000% take advantage of the unemployment benefits, they are there for a reason.
another door will eventually open
Good plan
I’ve been fired a few times - never once from a job I regretted losing. Never had a problem finding something as good of paying and ultimately most times it turned out better.
I’ve quit more than a few too - again - not many I regret leaving - some I just miss coworkers or customers - but not the management. Right now hate my coworkers/manager - but love everything else so I stay - might take a step back position wise just to get away - but paid unemployment and not needing the paycheck - I’d absolutely take the break.
Thanks fellas..I'm only considering the UE route to try to build up my bankroll for the next 6 months while collecting enough to cover my monthly nut. (UE was $794 3 yrs ago with the $300 wkly Covid boost so let's assume $494 before taxes so a little over $400/wk. Obv not much but my rent is only $800 so that $1600+ UE benefits would be more than enough). Ideally I'd like to have 100k both in the bank & DraftKings to feel I could reasonably sustain living off of my DK payouts not to have to work. Not quite there yet with 50k/70k so the foreseeable goal would be to achieve that 100k/100k split while on UE.Sorry to hear that Dougie. Keep your head up. If you do end up getting fired, something better will come along
I was actually just going to ask @dougtushyterror something similar. There are even a few local banks here that are offering between 4-5.25% for savings, where your $$ isn’t locked up in things like a CD.dougy what are you doing at CITI man? you make no interest
At the very least move your money to somewhere like Upgrade with over 5% interest

I imagine it’s because he can move his $$ in and out of DK/FD easily.
But when you’re talking that much $$ it’s hard to turn down $200-300 monthly in interest on the $50k and twice that monthly on 100k
Started looking into HYSA back in May when I had at least 70k at the time. Jay's exactly right about not doing so yet for ease of FD/DK reload purposes. With going bust & reloading/winning it back since then the plan was once I hit 100k in savings I'll transfer into 1 of these for at least a 4.5%-5% ROI.respect to rudy here. only 2% of his posts are meaningful and we found one of those posts worth something
THISGetting fired does es not mean unemployment
getting laid off does
Appreciate the advice but it's not that serious. In NY they don't even bother checking to see if you're meeting the weekly requirements to keep collecting benefits (actively looking for work)Doug, Unemployment Departments have a team of investigators that look for shit like this. I would pull those pics down and a lot of your statements. Just an FYI from someone who knows UI investigators in both NYC and Fla.
Twice I’ve quit jobs (one college job I was at for a couple of years that was crazy stressful) and another I loved I was at for 15 years and happened to get a horrible boss that made it unbearable.Appreciate the advice but it's not that serious. This isn’t true. But good luck to you, my man!Appreciate the advice but it's not that serious. In NY they don't even bother checking to see if you're meeting the weekly requirements to keep collecting benefits (actively looking for work)
Can't speak for everyone on UE but it was for me in 2021 when I was on it the 1st time. This isn’t true. But good luck to you, my man!
