Seems like there would be some Uruguay and/or Columbia fans arrested.

Anyone ever been arrested in a foreign country while on vacation?
I bet that would suck trying to work through that process. 1st call would be to the consolate.
I have never been arrested in a foreign country but my name/passport is flagged at the Bavet/ Tay Ninh border crossing in Campuchia. It is very odd because I have been taken into a room and questioned 3 times and the last time , I demanded answers and asked a lot of questions and was told it only is flagged at that border crossing which is very weird , you would think it would be the whole country unless I was lied to. However, anytime I go into Campuchia at a different border there is never a question so I do not believe I was lied to. The first time i was taken into the room was quite frightening , it was for 3 hours and the 2nd and 3rd time was for 45 minutes but the 21 times ( at Bavet ) in between they just call someone over, they talk for 5-10 minutes, they search my person and my backpack extensively ( no strip search) then let me on my way. What triggered it I think Is I came and went 4 times in 3 days a few years ago and they thought something was very odd about this. The reason I have been told are my many frequent travels through the Bavet border and they do not see many western foreigners going into Bavet, only coming right back doing "border runs" there is a ton of drug smuggling and human trafficking at that border and I probably have made them question what I am doing and why I am going there so often. I have now entered Campuchia a total of 39 times , I am sure I am on their radar but they know I am harmless.

Do you have to give them bribes when crossing?
If so, maybe the guards at that crossing were upset by the amount.

Just guessing.

of course, everyone does, even Vietnamese put in money in their passport to cross, it is a common thing in certain countries here. You do not have to but it is a thing everyone does. It has nothing to do with that, they see the frequency and the length of time that flagged it.
